Ahh, but what isn’t a social construct? The word peach meaning peach is a social construct, and may change with the passage of time, but most people still recognize the link.
There are two ways to subvert gender: denying it completely, or acting subversively within convention. The latter, imho, is the dandy way :)

Greetings from Germany!
I’ve been following your blog for a while now and I really love it.
I’m a designer and tailor from Germany, although I mainly focus on historical clothing, I’ve always liked to wear men’s clothes since I was 16 (I’m more than twice as old now :) ) - this is the latest creation I made for myself, had the fabric for a long time in my stash now. The jacket is not finished yet but I had to try it on today during my work on it - hope you don’t mind that the buttons are still missing - I will make some more pictures as soon as it’s done. This is just a quick self portrait but I like it very much so I could not resist to send it to you.
Shirt, tie and the complete suit are made to measure by myself :)
Rosa, this is jawdropping — those trim lines pop! And it clearly fits you so perfectly! I’m happy that someone so talented enjoys femme-dandying ;)
I found out about this through Kate Beaton’s twitter. The video isn’t high enough quality for me to get any real good screen caps that will do some of these outfits (or the dancers) justice. But are some pretty dandy-rific suits at 1:15 and 1:28!
AS IF NEEDED ANOTHER EXCUSE TO DANCE TO DAFT PUNK
To be quite honest, I think not, dear reader, though I am willing to be convinced otherwise. There is plenty to be done in a dress— including pairing a dress with masculine accessories and other genderfuckery— but I can’t picture anyone with a dress evoking the dandy essence for me.
But genderfluidity is a grand thing! And the gods of all things fashionable praise experimentation! You can be a dandy one day and a dandy-ish person in a dress another and flutter around nymphlike with flowers in your hair the next! Or you can be a quaintrelle! You are vast, dear reader, and contain multitudes: no need to give up dresses to be a dandy!
Me, Jakelyne, (on the left) and my friend Jenesh (on the right).

Who was the original Lady Gaga? Hint: it wasn’t Madonna
(via hommequaintrelle)
This article is about quaintrelles— more specifically, the Marchesa Luisa Casati, who is thought by some to be the original quaintrelle. So this has more application to homme quaintrelles, but there’s a great shoutout to femme dandies at the end.

Exquisite jacket, my dear. And exquisite geekery too, llap ;)
It most certainly is! This is quite a public service. Cheers to you, petit-dandy!
