A peculiar manner of crossdressing lady.
Quintessential.

While we’re on the subject of classics. This photograph has been analyzed to tedious lengths, and a lesser pose would make it cliche; as it stands, I am always enamored with her cool and direct gaze, the simple outfit, the coat tossed over the shoulder, the placement of her hands. She is perfectly self-possessed.

Janelle Monae. This was panned, as befits a dandy. I think she looks devastatingly sleek, as always.

Dita Von Teese, taking after Marlene, from her twitter account. An older photo, she has said. She is so feminine, and with such a distinct look— one could have hardly expected; but, I’m delighted, as it’s a look that fits her as well as a look that is entirely dandyish. The jacket, shirt and cigarette are uncompromisingly masculine, and her stance is also quite male (which happens to highlight her femininity, creating a sexy loop of genderqueer). Gorgeous.

Daring fashion sense even back in 1984!
She looks beautiful. The white tux suits her — I haven’t met many for whom that’s true. The ladies tux trend of the 80s rarely disappoints.
